It wasn’t easy but I did it.

I was making breakfast this morning and it got me thinking about all the changes I have gone through.

This is so good. Exactly how I feel. I want to be around to see my grandkids, and don’t want the diabetes and heart disease my parents have. Plus I gotta keep up with Ted LOL

I have been going through the same thing.  I want to be here to watch all my kids grow up and I want to be a part of the families that they are going to have.  And, I don’t want to have to watch my future grandkids from the sidelines…I want to play with them!

Isn’t it just so awesome to think of too, how it wasn’t easy but now that we’re where we’re at, it isn’t so hard either.  Doing the right thing as far as what we eat is actually an easy thing.  That’s why people can put a hamburger in front of us and it wouldn’t phase us.  That isn’t to say that there aren’t any triggers that may set us off or that we are safe and never have to worry about slipping back into the lifestyle.  We have to be oh so dilligent about NEVER going back into the old ways of doing things…I know you know that, I’m not preaching here.  It feels good though, doesn’t it!

I know I was one who emailed you saying you look so good, what do you think you need to loose weight for.  I meant that only as a compliment, not as a “shuddup and eat” kinda thing lol.  You are so right, this isn’t for looks, this is for health.  That is one reason I know you’re going to make it!

I agree. It’s amazing what even simple changes in lifestyle will do. No more sugary sodas and constant fast food has made a huge difference. High Blood and Diabetes are a risk for me also, so I need to “get right” because I wanna be around as long as possible for my kids and hubby too.

So true, we need to think of us now so we can be here for our children in the future. I am trying to be in the best shape possible because I am adopted and I don’t know my medical history. Great blog WW! You have come a long way baby!! Keep up the great work!!

  5. Cheryl @ March 30th, 2007

You hit the nail on the head!! It is all too true! The only thing that I have found out about getting older is that I am more confident in who I am as a person! Keep up the great weight loss!!

I no the feeling about being healthy so I may be here a few more yrs to enjoy what there is to offer. Well I am enjoying all three of my grandchildren and I want to be around to see then finish school and maybe go to college.then in the future marry and have children of their own which will make me a have great grandchildren.  lol lol One of my grandsons told me the other day which I thought was so cute, Manmaw, you are getting shorter and losing weight too. That really made me feel so good and that someone related to me had notice, especially your grandchildren and he is 14. This is funny everytime I start losing weight I do seem to get shorter. lol lol I am only 5′3 and my grandson is 5′11 and skinny!!!! and eats everything and anything. There is also high BP, cancer (which my mom passed with) and then I got it, heart trouble, diabeties, kidney failure so I no I got to get it together and be healthy..Ok you are doing great and sticking to your plan. YOU ROCK GIRLFRIEND..Huggs

Wow what a great blog and how true.
    You’ve really said it here.
The main reason Iam here is to get healthier.
I also have heart disease and diabetes in my family but I’m not gonna sit back and wait for them to come and get me.  NO WAY
I’m also doing my best to make sure my son and hubby are getting healthier along with me.  I want them to be around for a long time too.
You keep up the GREAT work.
Thanks for being such a great buddy

Way to go……..I commend you for making such a wonderful change.

I started the weight loss for the looks….but it all changed when I got my results from my cholesterol test. Now it’s for my health. Gotta be around for my children and grand children.

Keep up the good work. You and I both wanna be at 145.

WW, I think you are doing great!! I too could stop where I am at but I also want to get out of the overweight range on that crazy BMI chart.  Good for you and Gilbert wanting to be healthy not only for yourselves but for your family.  You will get there!  Keep working hard and you will be there in no time!

I think those remarks from people about not needing to lose weight are just about as bad as remarks about needing to lose weight.  Unfortunately, I was once guilty of that first comment, but not anymore.  You have to be comfortable with yourself and your health!

  12. Dawnie @ March 30th, 2007

Isnt it sometimes amazing how very simple this journey can be, yet, also be the hardest thing we ever did??

The food changes, for me, are sooo natural now, that like you, I can live without my cheesburgers, bacon, etc…

I can indulge from time to time, but most days, I simply choose not too. I crave salad, grilled chicken, fish, etc…These days. And it absolutely amazes me…

Its really all so simple some days…

Other days, you wonder how you ever got started or when you will finish! UGH!

    Great blog!

    Dawn

You are a great leader and friend WW. We all have faith that you’ll lose all the weight you want. You’ve had it in you all along you just needed this little girl to show you that. They say that everything happens for a reason. Keep on keepin on and don’t let anyone or anything get in your way!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Nikki @ March 31st, 2007

You have come a long way and it shows by the results.  You deserve all the success you’re having and MORE!!!  You inspire me everyday!!!  Keep up the good journey buddy!

Thank you for your feedback!  I will take it to heart.  I know what you mean about wanting to wear fun clothes - one of my primary reasons and motivators!  I am only 30, but I do know about those changes that start to happen.  I have this fantasy that if I feel better about myself (fitness) some of that will reverse!  I sure hope so  .  You have done a fantastic job, keep it up.  Wonder woman is a great inspiration!!

While prego with my second daughter, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.  I found out that it increased my chances of developing type 2 diabetes in the future if I didn’t take care of myself.  Plus, I have a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer.  My mom had breast cancer and now she has diabetes and her blood pressure jumps all over the place.  So yeah, I’m with you on wanting to be around for my kiddos.

Oh, and my family goes to this pancake house quite a bit and everytime we go there, I get the vegetarian BLT.  OMG!  It is so good!  The vegetarian bacon actually tasted like real bacon but just looked different.  And they use homemade guacamole instead of mayo or whatever else.  And it ain’t mixed with all that crap (can I say crap?).  I don’t ever see vegetarian bacon in our grocery stores here though.  I may give that turkey bacon a try.  That veggie BLT is the only time I’ve eaten any kind of bacon in over 2 months.
